The mystery out at Showplace Lanes is expected to be > $330 this Friday.

For those who don't know, I run The Showplace Lanes Weekly Friday Night Open Double-Elimination Blind Draw Doubles Steel-Tip Darts Tournament (SLWFNODEBDDSTDT for short ). Tournament sign-up closes at 8:30. Showplace is the bowling facility on southbound IH-35 just before Rundberg. Tournaments are in the bar at the south end of the bldg. The average number of players is 17. Entry is $8 for all-in. That's $5 + $1 for each of 3 optional pots: mystery out, high throw and high out. Showplace adds $5 per player. Format is usually best of 3: 501 SODO - Cricket - 301 DODO (more legs per match are played with < 11 players, and the 2nd chance bracket is 1 leg (choice) with > 18 players).

I distribute via e-mail a weekly newsletter that includes the Friday tournament results plus a few stats, rules-related info, and other info of interest to Central Texas darters. Starting this week, Showplace Lanes is closing the 300 Sports Bar to darts on the first Friday of every month. Word is they're planning to book bands to play on those nights instead.

Also, due to the unpredictability of the availability of the 300 on Fridays during every December, and due to Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve falling on Fridays this year, there will be no Friday tournaments at the 300 during December. I will be there to run this year's last Friday tournament on the day after Thanksgiving. Aside from the Wednesday League end-of-season tournament on Dec 15, I'm planning on the next weekly tournament after that to be on Jan 14 (the second Friday of Jan). Unless the mystery out is hit at one of this month's three tournaments, I plan to hold it and to continue building on it when we resume on 1/14.

Sign-ups still close at 8:30 sharp, but the entry is now $10 including the three optional dollars for the mystery out, high throw and high out pots. Other changes since my July post:
- The average # of players (calculated over 3 months) is currently 16.
- I bumped up the max # of players with which we play best-of-3 in the 2nd chance bracket from 16 to 18.
- Although you can still subscribe to receive weekly tournament results, I also started a facebook group: Austin Showplace Lanes Friday Darts Players.


NEW BLIND DRAW: As of 9 Oct '10, there are now steel-tip tournaments on Saturdays at 4:30 & 8 at Fast Eddie's!

Herman, Yes, there is a soft-tip league that plays on Sunday afternoons at Fast Eddie's, which is just off southbound IH-35 just south of Louis Henna Blvd & just before the entrance ramp.
